Sonny - Angel Caregivers - Linda Smith

When we think of angels we think of lovely beings, ethereal spiritual emissaries, messengers, between God and men. When I think of angels, I think of lovely beings too, including beautiful caregivers; like Sonny and Raquel. I also think of forty million more Americans who dedicate their lives to caring for the sick, the elderly and the disabled. These are the real life, living, breathing heroes who walk amongst us every day. They don’t sport wings, but these wonderful people are certainly sent from above.

Sonny Raquel ChrisChris and Linda Smith - HospitalSonny and Raquel, how thankful I am that you have chosen to care for Christopher. You arrived a year ago when my boy was recovering from his latest hospital stay and I was adrift in melancholy and despair. You embody all the traits that your profession demands on behalf of children whose voices will never be heard. You exude patience, and compassion and you are dependable and trusted. But most of all you are kind, and oh so very loving.

It may seem like a simple thing, but there is something powerful about loving the most disenfranchised amongst us, and meeting their needs while recognizing the silent voices of people like my Christopher.
My family and I thank you over and over and over again.

“If there is any kindness I can show, or any good thing I can do to any fellow being, let me do it now, and not deter or neglect it, as I shall not pass this way again.” -William Penn
